Can I hire a food truck for my event at the RCC?
Yes you may, but it must be approved the RCC rental agent prior to your event.
Do I need to choose from your Approved Caterer's List?
No, you don't. You can use the caterer of your choice provided they complete the RCC caterer application process and are approved by the Town of Glastonbury. For more information on the application process, contact Kristen Michaels at (860) 652-4640 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I rent the patio and grounds without renting the Community Room?
No, you may not.
Can I rent the RCC kitchen by itself?
No you may not rent the kitchen by itself.
Do I need to secure a licensed and insured caterer to use the RCC kitchen?
Yes, licensed/insured caterers are required for use of the kitchen.
Can I rent a tent from a 3rd party vendor for use outside?
Yes you may, however it must be done in conjunction with your Community Room and Patio rental. The Town must also approve the tent's use and placement.
What other types of equipment rentals do you have available?
We offer a podium and 2 microphones at no additional charge. A projector, screen, piano, stage, and/or TV/DVD player can also be rented for an additional charge. For fees and pricing information, please click here.
Do you provide linens, silverware, and dishes?
No, we do not. Linens, silverware and dishes may be available through your caterer and/or can be rented from a 3rd party. When ordering your linens, please note that we offer the following size tables: 72” rounds, 72” rectangulars & 36” square tables.
Do you provide tables & chairs? (If so, is there an associated fee?)
We provide tables and chairs with your rental at no additional cost. It will include 30 round tables, 12 rectangular tables, and a maximum of 300 chairs. If you need additional seating/tables beyond this amount, you will need to rent them for an additional fee.
If I rent the patio, can I have my ceremony or cocktail hour on it?
Yes you may.
If I add the Exercise Room to my Community Room rental, how many additional guests can I accommodate?
By adding the Exercise Room to your Community Room Rental, your space can accommodate an additional 50 Guests for a Banquet Style events or 100 additional Guests for a Lecture Style event.
What is the size and capacity of the Community Room?
The Community Room is 4450 square feet. The space can accommodate 250 Guests for a Banquet Style event and 500 Guests for a Lecture Style setting.
Will someone be available on-site to let me in and out of the building?
Yes. Someone will be available on-site on the day of your event to let you into the building. They will remain available throughout your event and lock the building for you at the end.

This message is displayed when a program is full, you can add your family member to the waitlist without being charged for the program.

Programs are age and or grade specific so it is important to make sure your family information is up to date and accurate.

This happens when you sign up for multiple activities that occur at the same time. The system will allow you to register for both programs this is just to warn you that you are signing up for two programs that meet at the same time.
Who is the Tree Warden and who do I contact about trees?
The Parks Superintendent is the Tree warden for the Town of Glastonbury. In compliance with State Statute, the Tree Warden is an appointed position. Tree Wardens are charged with managing only the Town’s trees. This means protecting those assets that are seen as assets to the Town and removing those that are seen as liabilities. It is not uncommon for a Tree Warden to advocate for keeping a tree that is slated for removal or to post a tree for removal because of defects.
You should call the Tree Warden (652-7679) anytime work will be done on or around a public tree. A public tree is one that belongs to the Town because it is growing on Town property. This includes Town buildings, schools, parks, Town owned open spaces and rights of way.
Trees along State highways are not under the jurisdiction of the Town Tree Warden. The State of CT DOT manages the trees along the State highways.

Parks and Recreation brochures are mailed directly to ALL Glastonbury residents via bulk mail 3 times per year:

Can I cancel a class using the online registration system?
No, you can not cancel a class using the online registration system. To cancel a class, please call the Parks and Recreation office at 652-7679 (press 5).
I registered for programs using the online registration system. How do I obtain a copy of the receipt?
After you complete your online registration, you are prompted to print your receipt. If you missed the prompt, sign back in to your account, click "My Account" and then "Reprint Receipt".
What facilities does the Parks and Recreation department rent?
The Parks and Recreation department takes rental for J.B. Williams park, the Academy Teen Center and the Glastonbury Skate Park. CLICK HERE for more information.
Where can I swim in town and how do I get a pool schedule?
The Town of Glastonbury has 3 outdoor swimming facilities and 1 indoor facility. The indoor facility is used year-round while the outdoor facilities are used during the summer months.
Fingerprinting services are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for Glastonbury residents and/or people requiring fingerprints for employment at a Glastonbury-based business (i.e. daycare, insurance company or financial institution). A fee of $10.00 dollars will be charged. We accept cash or checks, made out to The Town of Glastonbury.
How can I obtain Motor Vehicle Forms?
All Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle forms may be obtained by going to the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle web site at www.ct.gov/dmv. Several of the forms that are available on the DMV web site can also be found in the lobby of the police department.
What if I use an abnormal amount of water that does not go into the sewer system?
A special, or additional meter, should provide a cost savings to you, the customer. There are many variations to its use based on the specific needs of the individual. For detailed information access Special Metered Accounts.
Fluorescent lamps, including energy saving compact fluorescents, contain mercury. When a lamp breaks it releases mercury into the air which is toxic. When storing lamps keep in a box or case to prevent breakage. Fluorescent lamps can be disposed of at the Transfer Station / Permits are required.
What materials are accepted at the Town disposal facilities?
Occupancies regulated by the Connecticut Fire Safety Code can be scheduled for inspection by contacting the Fire Marshal’s Office. Appointments can be scheduled within 10 to 14 days based on staffing and activity levels.

Where is the closest Fire Station to my house?
Glastonbury is served by 4 Fire Stations at the following locations: 1. 2825 Main Street; 2. 905 Main Street; 3. 1089 Chestnut Hill Road; and 4. 1253 Manchester Road. These locations are depicted on the Town’s GIS.
How much water is available on the Town’s tanker trucks?

How long does it take for the Town to review plans and construction documents?
The current plans review process is approximately 21 days.
How long does it take to get a copy of a fire report?
A basic incident report is usually available from the Fire Marshal’s Office within 10 to 14 days.
Can I get a copy of an underground tank report for an environmental site assessment?
Copies of reports can be obtained through the Fire Marshal’s Office for 50 cents per page.
How can I find out if there are fire code violations at a specific address/property?
Copies of reports and property inspections can be obtained from the Fire Marshal’s Office.
Can I get a burning permit?
Burning permits are only issued to commercial farms and residential property owners for the management of vegetation and disease control. Permits are limited to the time period from September 16 to June 14 and permit holders must adhere to strict criteria. In most circumstances brush disposal at the Town Bulky Waste Site is the preferred method of protecting our environment.

How can I get a fire truck to come to my child’s nursery school?
School administrators should contact the Fire Marshal’s Office for fire prevention tours which are normally conducted during the month of October.
How can I find out what the codes are for installing a wood stove in my house?
Permits for the installation and inspection of wood stoves can be obtained from the Town’s Building/Zoning Department. Adopted codes are available for review. The Town requires manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Is blasting regulated and how can I get more information about blasting in my neighborhood?
Rock blasting is regulated by Connecticut General Statutes with local blasting permits issued by the Fire Marshal. The Fire Marshal’s Office can provide information about active blasting projects.
Can I get a license to sell food that is prepared in my home and if so what are the requirements?
How can I find out where my septic system is located?
Go to the Town GIS site. Select house number search and then start typing your street name (not number), select your street then click "Search". Then start typing in your house number and select your house number from the list and click "Search." When your map appears, click on "Show images, Laterals or Septic" on the right side of the page. This will take you to the image page which will have septic system sketches and photos.
Is there a senior nutritional lunch program?
Yes, the Glastonbury Senior Center offers a nutritional lunch program Monday through Friday. The lunch is served at the Riverfront Community Center which is located at 300 Welles Street. Lunch is served at noon. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling 860-652-7651 by noon, one business day prior to the desired luncheon.
Additionally, The Riverfront Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm and offers a selection of soups, sandwiches and salads. This venue is a great option for people who have forgotten to make a reservation for the hot lunch program; are looking for a lighter option or are busy and want a lunch to go.

The Glastonbury Senior Services Division offers social, cultural, educational and wellness programs Mondays through Saturdays during the day as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings.

Is there a permit required for a fence, and where can it be placed on the property?
No permit is required and the fence can be a maximum of six (6 ft.) feet in height. There is no good side and they can be placed up to the property line, although we do suggest that you keep a couple feet off the line for maintenance.
