GLAD to make a difference….
A Connecticut Strategic Prevention Framework, State Incentive Grant has been awarded to the Town of Glastonbury, thanks to the efforts of GLAD, the Glastonbury Alcohol and Drug Council! Continued funding will be contingent upon community involvement in the GLAD Coalition. Our teens need safe drug and alcohol free “alternative activities” all through the year, and GLAD members have worked hard to make that happen!

Volunteers are needed to fill vacancies on the GLAD Executive Board and others are needed to help staff and support prevention initiatives such as the Coffee House Project, the Party Line Pledge, and the Academy Teen Center. If we can succeed in engaging our kids in fun, challenging, and structure activities, while fostering positive relationships with knowledgeable and caring adults, perhaps we will at the same time discourage them from engaging in unhealthy and dangerous high risk behaviors including the use of alcohol, tobacco and or other drugs. We all work hard to provide the best “home” we can for our children. Won’t you consider donating some of your time and talent for the sake of all of our kids and our community?

Volunteers are a valuable resource and an integral component of our planned prevention initiatives, and we would like to make optimal use of your time and skills. If you want to get involved please take a few minutes to provide us with information that will help us match your skills and interests with our needs. For more information about board positions and participation at GLAD meetings, you may contact GLAD at 652-7674.
