Did You Know?
The Town recently participated in the competitive grant program sponsored by the Connecticut Energy Finance & Investment Authority (CEFIA) to secure grant funding for a photovoltaic project on Town building(s). Concurrently, the Town also submitted proposals pursuant to the Zero Emission Renewable Energy Credit (ZREC) Reverse Auction program sponsored by the State. To date, three projects involving Town Hall, GHS and the Town’s Highway/Fleet Maintenance facility are approved through these competitive programs. Additional projects are pending. The estimated annual savings in electricity costs for the three projects approved to date totals $73,533 in year one. Savings will increase as the cost of electricity rises over coming years. Additional annual savings will be achieved, subject to approval of projects now pending and to be submitted through the next competitive process during fall 2012. There is no capital or ongoing costs to the Town for these projects.
