Community Development manages all land use and building activities, including planning, zoning, building inspection, environmental protection, fire prevention and investigation, restaurant inspection, well and septic system management, community health services and code enforcement. Specifically, these activities are managed by the Community Development, Building, Health and Fire Marshal Divisions. Professional staff provide permit services and guidance to all boards and commissions involved in land use and building activities. Key commissions include the Town Plan and Zoning Commission, Conservation Commission, Economic Development Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and the
Historic District Commission.
