A Parents Guide To Teen Safety
Mission Statement:
The Town of Glastonbury is dedicated to working with families so that all members of our community can be safe. Teenagers face a variety of challenges and dangers as they work their way towards becoming an adult. This Web-Site is dedicated to providing information to parents in an attempt to keep our Teens safe. If we all work together, our children will have a chance to grow up and become successful adults.
About Our Initiative:
For several years representatives from the Town of Glastonbury have been attending monthly meetings of the Glastonbury Alcohol and Drug Council (GLAD) to address issues related to alcohol, tobacco and drug use and abuse in our community. In January 2003, a meeting was convened to create a Strategic Plan to address Underage Drinking in Glastonbury. To address parental concerns, we developed a strategy to utilize the media to achieve this goal. The Public Relations firm of Cashman and Katz generously donated their services in conducting parent focus groups for GLAD and the Town of Glastonbury. These parents recommended a method of creating and publicizing ways to KEEP OUR TEENS SAFE. Town staff and community members worked to create this web site broadening the message beyond alcohol, tobacco and
other drugs.
